Solo works better together.

We love the flexibility of solo work, but not working alone. That's why we've built a community for solo workers to connect, grow, and support each other. Enjoy work flexibility, minus the isolation.

Creatives, freelancers, entrepreneurs, remote workers, thinkers, misfits: if you work solo (or are feeling solo), you belong here. Skeleton Dojo Social Club™ is a nonprofit that serves the solo worker community in Buffalo, NY, located in Elmwood Village.

This isn’t a typical coworking or office space, it’s a dojo: a place to share your interests, get work done, lift each other up, and build healthier work and social lives. Schedule a free tour and day of coworking today.

FAQ

What is Skeleton Dojo Social Club?
It’s a clubhouse!
Our club connects remote, solo, and freelance workers from diverse backgrounds. We make connections that inspire and motivate, beyond just networking. Kindness, curiosity, and personal growth matter to us.
It’s an office!
Meet people from different fields as you work. Discover shared interests and enjoy conversations over coffee, lunch, and events while staying productive. We want you to enjoy your coworkers here.
It’s a gathering space!
Everyone has something valuable to share. We encourage you to join or host events and activities you care about. You might teach your favorite cookie recipe or lead a class on cybersecurity. We offer the space; you bring the energy to learn, share, and create.
Where are you located?
We’re located at 875 Elmwood, between St. James and Lafayette in The Elmwood Village. The building, built in 1894, now houses the Presbyterian church and Lafayette Lofts. Lafayette Lofts, added in 2016, include apartments, event spaces, dining, and private offices. You’ll find us in the lower-level office suites.
When are you open?
For prospective members and guests, the doors of the Lafayette Lofts are open to the public Monday to Friday from 8am to 2pm. Once you're inside, the clubhouse is open for coworking and tours Tuesday - Friday 9am to 5pm, when staff are on-site. Guests or trial members looking to come in on a Monday, or enter the building before 9am or after 2pm, should first check with SDSC staff.
What about weekends or 24-hour access?
Members can access the main building and the clubhouse any time, day or night. It’s one of the perks of being a member. Being a member with a keycard comes with additional responsibilities, so if you’re interested, we’re happy to walk you through the membership application process.
What are the other perks of becoming a member?
Members have 24 hr access to the building, can host events, leave their things in the clubhouse in one of our lockers, reserve phone rooms for calls or online meetings, can bring guests, and get a discount at Kitchen Little.
Do you offer private offices?
We don’t offer private offices, desks, or conference rooms by design. Our space helps you break routines and connect with others—for both work and community.
Can I take online meetings or work calls there?
If you're comfortable taking a meeting at a coffee shop, you'll likely feel the same here. We offer flexible workspaces and phone rooms that are sound dampened, but not sound proof, so SDSC may not suit every meeting. If you have many meetings during your workday, we suggest booking an intro day to see if our space fits your needs.
How do I become a member?
As a private clubhouse with limited seats, we want the right fit for you and our community. Start by scheduling an intro day on our website or with a staff member.
On your intro day, you’ll get a tour and learn about The Dojo. We want to get to know you and invite you to spend the day coworking with us. This way, you can see if our space is right for you and your work.
After your intro day, you can come back another time, like on one of our free walk-in days, or you can purchase a discounted one-month trial membership.
To become a full member, we have an application process that includes a sponsorship program in which current members must vouch for new members. We hope you'll use our walk-in days or your trial membership to settle in, meet our members and staff, ask any questions you have, and most importantly, get to know people. Ask the staff for more details on this process.
Do I need to sign a contract to become a member?
Yes and no. You’ll need to sign our member expectations and code of conduct, but there’s no membership contract that locks you in for a set period, as memberships are month-to-month.
What are the membership costs, and how do I pay?
We offer two prices for full membership, part-week, and full-week.
Part-week: Use the space up to 2 days/week for $100 a month.
Full-week: Use the space 3 or more days/week for $200 a month.
Pick your plan and use the space as needed. We’ll set up monthly payments, and you can change or end your membership at any time.
Do you have any financial assistance options or discounts?
If cost is a barrier or you have unique needs, please talk to the staff or contact us. We’ll discuss rates or tiers that fit your budget or involvement.
Do you offer day passes?
We don’t offer day passes right now. We believe our community works best when members feel like part of a team, and single-day passes don’t foster that sense of belonging. Instead, non-members are welcome to join us for free monthly open houses, weekly walk-in days, or they can purchase the month-long intro membership.
